Privacy Policy
Tag My Vacation, an app by CodeLime LLC. Last updated July 15, 2026.
This policy explains what information Tag My Vacation ("the app", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. Our guiding principle is reference-first: your photos stay on your device, and we store only what's needed to make the trip features work.
Who we are

Information we collect
- Account — You sign in with Sign in with Apple. Apple provides us a unique identifier and, if you choose to share it, your name and a relay email address. We do not receive your Apple password.
- Trip content you create — Trip names and dates, stops/cities, lodging, events, wishlist items, and photo captions ("tags").
- Photo references & metadata — When you add a photo, we store a reference to it (a photo-library identifier) plus metadata such as the date taken and, if present, the location. We do not upload or store your original photos. The originals stay in your device's photo library.
- Shared photo derivatives — If a photo is shared with your trip, we upload a small, reduced-size copy (a display image and thumbnail, each well under 1 MB) so trip members and recaps can display it. Full-resolution originals are never uploaded.
- Location — With your permission, we use your device location while you are using the app to tag photos with the place they were taken and to show which city you're in. Location is used for these features and stored as coordinates on the relevant trip/photo records.
- Games — If you use the party games, your chosen display name and in-game actions are stored in the shared game room so other players see them.
- Device integrity — We use Apple's App Check / DeviceCheck to verify requests come from a genuine copy of the app and to prevent abuse.
How we use your information
- To provide the core features: planning trips, mapping photos, generating recap videos, and playing group games.
- To share trip content, shared photos, and recaps with the members of a trip you are part of.
- To generate a recap video, we temporarily stage small copies of the photos in the recap, render the video, and then delete the staged copies (see "Retention" below).
- To operate, secure, and improve the service, and to prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
Sharing with other people
Tag My Vacation is built for families and groups. When you join or create a trip, the trip's content — stops, events, captions, shared photos, and recap videos — is visible to the other members of that trip. A recap you create, and the photos included in it, are shared with everyone on that trip. Only share content you're comfortable with the group seeing.
Service providers
We use trusted providers to run the app. They process data on our behalf:
- Google Firebase (Authentication, Firestore database, Cloud Storage, App Check, Cloud Run) — hosts your account, trip data, and shared photo/recap files.
- Apple — Sign in with Apple, and subscription billing (see below).
- Esri — satellite map imagery used as the backdrop of recap flyover videos.
- Open-Meteo — weather for a stop; we send only the stop's coordinates, no personal data.
- Wikipedia — public information and images about the cities on your trip; we send only place names/coordinates.
Subscriptions & payments
Tag My Vacation offers an optional auto-renewing subscription for premium features. Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your credit-card or payment details — Apple handles billing and tells us only whether your subscription is active.
Data retention
- Trip content and photo references are kept while your account/trip exists.
- Recap staging files are deleted right after the video is rendered (typically within minutes; a lifecycle rule sweeps any leftovers within a day).
- A rendered recap video is retained for up to 30 days on our servers; you can re-render it anytime.
- You can remove a photo from a trip (its shared copy is deleted) or delete a trip. To delete your account and associated data, contact support@codelime.dev.
Your choices
- Location — You can grant or revoke location access anytime in iOS Settings. Photos without location still appear, placed near your nearby photos or a stop you tag.
- Photos — You control which photos you add. Removing a photo from a trip deletes its shared copy.
- Access & deletion — Email us to request a copy or deletion of your data.
Children
Tag My Vacation is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections and stored with our providers' security controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, noted in the app.
